Our Founding Pastors
Pastor and Bishop Kozm J. Tossa was a co-founder of the Word of Life Discipleship Church.
He was born in Porto-Novo, Benin, West Africa on May 1, 1970. He came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 9. As a student, he excelled in school. And after graduating from high school, he was was sent to the Soviet Union to continue his education.
As a faithful minister of God, he founded multiple churches in Moscow and the Moscow region. In the city of Chekhov, he survived two assassinations. After that, the U.S. government granted his family a refugee status.
While in the U.S., Bishop Tossa co-founded and raised funds for churches in Benin and Ivory Coast, West Africa.
On May 6, 2021, Bishop Tossa and his friend Pastor Vladimir (Vlad) Mikhaylov co-founded the Word of Life Discipleship Church, with the mission focusing on discipleship, deliverance and inner healing, and reaching the people who lost hope and suffer in isolation and loneliness.
On June 10, 2022, Bishop Tossa suddenly died after a severe bilateral pneumonia. He was survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.
His legacy will never be forgotten. It continues in the ministry of WLDC as Pastor Vlad carries on its mission.
Pastor and Teacher Vladimir (Vlad) Mikhaylov is a co-founder of the Word of Life Discipleship Church.
He was born in Tbilisi, the capital of the Republic of Georgia, on September 10, 1974.
His grandfather, Mikhail Pavlov, was pastor of an underground baptist church, heavily persecuted by the Soviet authorities.
After graduating from high school in 1991, Vladimir moved to Russia to get his higher education at one of the leading language universities.
In 2001, Vladimir, his wife, and then 4-year-old son moved to the U.S.
In 2016, Vladimir got acquainted with Bishop Kozm Tossa, and they became best friends and prayer partners.
In 2018, Vladimir decided to pursue his second master’s degree, and in 2020, he graduated from Northwest University with the major in pastoral ministry. In 2021, he was ordained for pastoral ministry at Word of Life Discipleship Church.
Pastor Vladimir is married with two children, Ilya and Michael.
He has been the lead pastor of WLDC after Bishop Tossa’s passing away.
